about me
My name is Alex Ford, and I'm currently completing my major in Visual Communications Design at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
I am a student, a designer, an artist, a nerd, a musician, a developer, a writer, a photographer, an armchair politician, a boyfriend, a brother, and a son.
Graphic design is my passion, and my career of choice. To that end, I hope to be your designer of choice.
about my work
I design websites as well as print work such as brochures, businesscards, flyers, reports, or logos/identities. My clients range from national corporations to individuals. Go to my portfolio to see examples.
skills/details
I strongly believe that you don't need technical skills to be a good designer, and (more importantly) that technical skills don't make you a good designer. However, I still feel it's important to be clear regarding my skills and methods for those interested.
When I make websites, I use HTML with pure CSS layouts, and I do my mockups and most web graphics in Adobe Photoshop. For database driven applications and just to make things easier, I code with PHP, and use the MySQL database.
I never use "WYSIWYG"s like Dreamweaver, and I strive for cross-browser compatibility.
For everything else, I am at home with Adobe's Creative Suite on my MacBook Pro.
